ZzzQuil Review

Well, where do I begin.  I have never taken NyQuil or DayQuil before so I wasn't sure what to expect from this product.  I figured it would at least make me feel a little bit drowsy or possibly more relaxed.

I'm glad I didn't have high hopes for ZzzQuil because is literally did nothing for me.  It didn't feel like I took anything at all.  I stared at the ceiling all night long.

I can't personally recommend this to anyone, but I can only assume that if NyQuil works on you this would too.

Digital Audio

AAC- Advanced Audio Coding, compressed audio format, default on iTunes.
MP3- Moving Picture Exports Group Player, compressed audio format, most popular.
AIFF- Audio Interchange File Format, uncompressed audio format.

AAC file size: 6.6 MB
Higher MP3 file size: 4.9 MB
Good MP3 file size: 3.3 MB
AIFF file size: 35.4 MB
YouTube rip file size: 3.3MB

I could definitely hear a difference between the AIFF file, the YouTube rip and the "good" MP3 file.  The AIFF was very clear and I could hear more of the subtle instruments in the song.  The other versions sounded fuzzy compared to the AIFF file.  I didn't hear a huge difference between the AAC file and the "higher" MP3 file.

If I was going to rip all of my CDs to my computer and trade them in I would probably use AAC or MP3 because of their decent quality, small file size and compatibility/uses with other sites.

3mg is not enough

About two years ago someone recommended that I try Melatonin.  At first I was hesitant, I've heard a few horror stories about herbal/natural sleep remedies (hello, valerian root hallucinations, anyone?), but after I did some research I decided to give it a go.  Turns out that melatonin is a hormone already in your body that regulates your sleep cycle.

I've been using it ever since.  This really works like a charm for me, but it took some trial and error.  First off, unlike other sleep meds I've tried, I can take melatonin right as I'm tucking in for bed.  Secondly, 3mg is just not enough to have an effect on me.  I take two 3mg tablets right before bed.  It's the perfect amount as I can fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time or still be able-minding if I bolt out of bed because I forgot to do a homework assignment.

All around great product in my opinion.  It's inexpensive (I get bottles of 60-240 tablets for under $5) and natural, so I'd recommend trying it if you haven't already.

Welcome!

Hi there!  Chances are if you're reading this blog you have trouble sleeping.  Well, that makes two of us.  I've been struggling with sleep since I was a freshman in high school.  My doctor put me on a combination anti-anxiety medications that not only did not work, but were also habit forming.  I didn't want to become dependent on expensive medicines, so I started trying to find other things that worked.  Now, at 21, I've finally found solutions that help me sleep-- without prescription medicine.  Basically this blog will show you what works and doesn't work for me as well as testing out new products, tips and the like.

I hope you find something useful!
